Challacollo

Location and History

Challacollo is located 130 kilometers southeast of Iquique, a major port in northern Chile. Access is good, with the Pan American Highway passing 30 kilometers west of the property. A main power grid is located 15 kilometers north of the property.

Geology and Metallurgy

Silver Standard began exploration at Challacollo in 2001 and prepared a resource estimate in 2003. Based on the resource estimate, a scoping study was prepared by Kappes, Cassiday & Associates, which, though requiring updating, contemplates a mine plan of 3.1 million ounces of silver and 3,200 ounces of gold per year over a 10-year mine life.

Project Scope and Plans

Geologically, Challacollo is located along a strong north-south lineament that includes a number of copper deposits to the north, with a possible east-west lineament postulated between major copper deposits to the east and Challacollo. As a result, Challacollo is considered highly prospective for the discovery of additional mineralization.
